Established in 1973, Cox Construction Company has a rich history rooted in craftsmanship and a deep commitment to exceeding client expectations. What began as a small operation with John F. Cox at the helm has blossomed into a respected name synonymous with quality construction in the Sayville, West Sayville, and Bayport communities. John's passion for building started early, honed during his time at Craft Home Improvement in Amityville. After a courageous service in Vietnam defending liberty, John returned home with a renewed determination. He decided to forgo taking orders and instead, answer the call to build his own dream-Cox Construction. The company initially spread its wings across Long Island, upstate New York, and even venturing into the bustling city of New York. Cox Construction's diverse portfolio showcases a remarkable range of projects. They restored the charm of Red Lobster Inns throughout the Northeast, erected impressive private residences exceeding 15,000 square feet in esteemed locations like Old Field and Amagansett, and undertook countless home improvement projects spanning everything from kitchens and bathrooms to intricate millwork and trim.

From Vision to Reality

In the late 1990s, John's wife Kathy encouraged him to focus his talents closer to home in Sayville. John embraced the idea, and Cox Construction quickly became an integral part of the Sayville community's building landscape. The company embraced the unique architectural heritage of Sayville by meticulously restoring Victorian-era homes, while also building new residences that seamlessly blended with the area's character. Beyond traditional home construction, Cox Construction demonstrated their versatility by completing full remodels, intricate home lifting projects, adding charm to restaurants, constructing marinas, and even transforming a space into a dazzling jewelry store.

John's dedication to Sayville extended far beyond building projects. He actively contributed to the community's betterment by spearheading the construction of the performance pavilion in Common Ground Park, constructing the food pantry at Gillette House, and building the Welcome Center for the Sayville Chamber of Commerce. His dedication to enhancing the town's visual appeal was evident in his role, along with his son Ryan, in installing over one hundred brackets to beautifully adorn Sayville's streets with colorful flowers. John's unwavering commitment to Sayville culminated in his becoming President of the Sayville Chamber of Commerce in 2015, a testament to his deep-rooted involvement in the community.
