Our Story

Design Display Associates-Metro Blinds has a rich history that spans over four decades. Founded by Wayne Comer and Darryl Thomas, the company was built on a foundation of quality workmanship and exceptional customer service. Wayne, who had a passion for design from a young age, earned his degree in architectural space planning and design from the University of Washington in 1971. After graduating, he worked on various projects including home restoration, interior design, and landscaping. His experience and talent eventually led him to start Design Display Associates-Metro Blinds in 1985 with his partner Darryl. The company quickly gained a reputation for providing top-notch window fashions and interior design services.

Legacy of Excellence

Under the leadership of Wayne and Darryl, the company thrived, earning a legacy of excellence in the industry. Wayne's dedication to his craft and his commitment to customer satisfaction were unparalleled. After Darryl's passing in 2000, Wayne continued to grow the business, taking on a new partner, Richard Sater, in 2007. Richard, a retired Air Force veteran, brought his own set of skills and values to the company. Together, they worked tirelessly to maintain the high standards set by Wayne and Darryl.

Closing a Chapter

Sadly, Wayne passed away in 2019, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished forever. Despite the challenges, Richard has continued to carry on the tradition of excellence, ensuring that the company's values and commitment to quality remain unchanged. The doors of Design Display Associates-Metro Blinds may have closed for good, but the impact and memory of their work will live on.
