Our Story

Tree Solutions is a family-owned business based in Honolulu, Hawaii, founded by Steve Nimz, a pioneering arborist with over 50 years of experience in the Hawaii tree care industry. Steve's passion for preserving trees and promoting proper arboricultural practices has led to a long history of collaboration with local communities, organizations, and government agencies. His daughter, Ilana, joined the family business after earning a Master's degree in wildlife biology and becoming an ISA Certified Arborist and Registered Consulting Arborist (RCA). Together, they have built a team of dedicated professionals who share their passion for tree care and environmental conservation.

Our Team

Our team consists of certified arborists, wildlife biologists, and experienced technicians who have extensive knowledge in their respective fields. Steve Nimz, our Chief Consulting Arborist, is an ISA Certified Arborist and ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualified arborist with decades of experience. Ilana Nimz, our Arborist and Wildlife Biologist, is also an ISA Certified Arborist and ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualified arborist with expertise in avian species and seabird research. David Golden, our Arborist and Wildlife Biologist, is an ISA Certified Arborist, Landscape Industry Certified Technician (LICT), and wildlife biologist with experience in tree care technology and wildlife surveys. Kesha Teranishi, our Office Manager, coordinates administrative tasks, manages emails, and maintains excellent customer service. Bonnie Dietrich, our Entomologist, oversees our plant health lab and has extensive experience in identifying and treating insect pests. Waylen Rodrigues, our Crane Operator and Tree Transplant Expert, has over 20 years of experience operating cranes and tree spades in Hawaii. Mr. Kinako, our trusty mascot, is Kesha's right-hand man, while Rooni, a certified tree climber and bird observer, helps in Ilana and David's office.

Our team holds numerous certifications from the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), including ISA Certified Arborist, ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualified, and ISA Certified Tree Worker. We are also ASCA Registered Consulting Arborists (RCA) and members of the American Society of Consulting Arborists (ASCA), the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), and the Western Chapter ISA.
