Our History

The Associated General Contractors (AGC) was founded in 1919 by President Woodrow Wilson, with the purpose of addressing problems discovered during World War I. The AGC Dallas Chapter was formed in 1924, becoming one of the first AGC Chapters in the country. Over the years, the chapter has undergone several mergers, including the merger with the Fort Worth AGC in 2001, and the merger with the North Texas Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) in 2008. This merger formed TEXO, the Construction Association, which is now recognized as a powerful lobbying and advocacy group for the construction industry in Dallas.
