Our Story

Whit Davis Lumber Plus has been a cornerstone of the central Arkansas community for nearly seven decades. Established in 1953 by Whit and Miriam Davis, the company began as Oliver Lumber Company, a modest operation driven by the founders' unwavering commitment to quality and customer service. It was this founding principle, "We either have it in stock or we will get it for you tomorrow, " coupled with the dedication to "Satisfying" every customer, that set the stage for Whit Davis Lumber Company's enduring success. The company's early years saw steady growth, fueled by hard work and the belief that providing exceptional service was paramount. As the company expanded, so did its commitment to the community.

During the 1970s, John A. Davis-III, Whit's son, assumed the role of General Manager, carrying on his father's legacy of dedication and innovation. John understood the importance of adaptation and expansion, recognizing the need to meet evolving customer demands. Observing a significant customer base emanating from the Cabot area, John recognized an opportunity. Guided by the company motto, "grow or die, " he spearheaded the opening of the Cabot location in 1994, further solidifying Whit Davis Lumber's presence in central Arkansas.

Years later, with a strong foundation in place, the company expanded its reach once again. Greenbrier beckoned as a promising hub for growth, and in 2006, the company opened its doors to serve the needs of this vibrant community. Despite economic challenges, the Greenbrier location thrived, becoming a testament to its strategic foresight and unwavering customer focus. Sherwood, recognizing the value of Whit Davis Lumber Plus's reputation for quality and service, became home to the company's fourth location in 2015.
