Rio Grande Steel, Ltd. was founded on April 1, 1991, by Hector M. Maldonado, a seasoned professional with over 28 years of experience in the steel industry. Since then, the company has grown to become a leading provider of construction equipment, tools, hardware, and steel products in South Texas. Today, Rio Grande Steel, Ltd. is owned and managed by Mr. Maldonado and his wife, Criselda Maldonado, and employs around one hundred dedicated individuals across three locations.

The Commercial Rebar Department: Our Specialty and Backbone

Our commercial rebars department is the backbone of Rio Grande Steel, Ltd. and our specialty. With over 50 years of experience, we have honed our skills in accurate fabrication and timely delivery. Our commercial rebar department consists of two divisions, estimating and detailing, which work together to ensure that your fabricated order is accurate and delivered on time.

Our estimating division provides competitive pricing and works up estimates for upcoming projects, while our detailing division provides existing customers with the information they need to install and properly place rebar at ongoing projects. With the latest rebar equipment and the countless years of experience of our team, we can meet the growing demands of quicker turnarounds and more precise workmanship on fabricated rebar projects.

Rebar Placing Service: Minimizing Shortages and Errors

At Rio Grande Steel, Ltd., we offer our customers a rebar placing service. Our steel tying crew will go to job sites and tie and/or place your rebar in its proper location, minimizing shortages or errors. With our rebar placing service, you can rest assured that your project will be completed accurately and on time.

Fabrication Shop: State-of-the-art Technology

Our fabrication shop is equipped with the most current technology in rebar shears, table benders, and automated rebar benders. Three Locations Valley Wide

We have three convenient locations in San Benito, Edinburg, and Penitas, to serve our customers better. Our locations have different operating hours, but we are open six days a week, Monday through Saturday. We have knowledgeable staff at each location who are ready to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.
