Garden Coaching & Tutorials

Gardening is a gateway to connection, peace, and creativity. For over 20 years, Alissa Hartman, the owner of Seed Garden Designs, has been passionate about gardening. With a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and a master's degree in Education, Alissa has gained a unique background that has allowed her to teach and instruct in a classroom, one-on-one tutorials, and trainings. Her expertise includes permaculture, herbal studies, and certified training in large-scale rainwater harvesting and water reclamation.

Our Expertise

As a certified fitness instructor, Alissa incorporates onsite individualized mobility exercises, balance, and strength training to maintain access to the labor of working outdoors. Seed Garden Designs works with the Columbia Land Trust and the Portland Audubon Society's Backyard Habitat Program and is a certified EcoBiz. We believe in the importance of understanding the long-standing history of supporting residents on the lands we call home and extend deep gratitude for our presence here.

Design Services

Seed Garden Designs offers a range of design services, from design plans to hourly consultations. Our design plans range from $2,000 per yard area for a standard city-sized lot, with plant procurement pricing varying on market availability. We specialize in plant procurement and layout for landscape construction companies, ensuring that your design looks as intended from start to finish.

Accommodating Modifications

We understand that your yard may no longer be the most efficient, reachable space for you. Our team redefines your space to suit your needs, incorporating permaculture and design theory with a background in body mechanics and movement. We assess all areas of the yard, including layout, plant placement, color theory, and lighting, to make your outdoor experience functional and efficient.
