At Superior Block Co. Inc., we are a family-owned and operated business that has been serving the Western Upper Peninsula and beyond since 1946. Our commitment to quality, service, and community involvement has made us a leading supplier of building materials and tools for contractors, landscapers, and DIY homeowners. Our manufacturing facility, located in Houghton, Michigan, produces a variety of block products for commercial, residential, and DIY projects, and we have been recognized nationally for our production versatility.

Our story began with the partnership of Dan Lorenzetti, who founded Superior Block with a dedication to quality, service, and community involvement. Over the years, the business grew, and in 1951, Dan and Bernice Lorenzetti became the sole owners. They moved the business to a new facility on the Isle Royale Sands in 1955, where they continued to grow and expand their offerings.

In 1977, Bernice took over the business after Dan's passing and ran it with her longtime foreman, Niilo Moilanen. Two years later, Superior Block was incorporated, and Dan and Joan Lorenzetti returned to the area, assuming control as CEO and office manager, respectively. During this time, the company made significant changes, including the construction of a new office, warehouse, and production facility.

In the 1980s, Superior Block continued to expand, purchasing more property and increasing our storage yard. By the end of the decade, we had established ourselves as a leading supplier of building materials and tools in the region.

Today, we continue to serve our customers with the same commitment to quality, service, and community involvement that has been our guiding principle since our founding. We are proud of our history and our role in the Copper Country, and we look forward to continuing to provide top-quality products and exceptional service to our customers for years to come.
