Our History

Our journey began in 1972 when Albert Wilkening, our founder, invented the "Wilkening Fireplace" due to his frustration with the inefficiency of his newly installed Heatilator fireplace. With his background in steel fabrication, Albert set out to build a better model that would provide a more efficient and effective way to heat his home. His innovative design featured a steel heat exchanger that used outside air to feed the fire, a masonry surround to store heat, and a circulation system that didn't rely on fans.
